Do you want to understand the Why and the How? As in ”Why do I do this”; and “How did the behaviour or trait come about?”; If so, my background in genetics will help identify the interaction between your nature (DNA) and nurture (what have learned in your environment) in a well-rounded approach. Simply put, your DNA is the blueprint of you and your environment is the building materials you can access to build from those instructions. My goal is to foster an understanding of why you used which material to build each part and therefore learn how to dismantle the no longer necessary structures so that we can focus on building new ones.

I am a Registered Psychologist working from Edmonton, within Treaty 6 Territory and the Métis homelands. I am an uninvited guest here on the traditional territories of the Nehiyaw, Denesuliné, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe, and Niitsitapi Nations. I use they/them pronouns (feel free to ask about this!). I graduated from the University of Lethbridge Master of Counselling program in 2020 and I am a member in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

As a counsellor, my intention is to create a nurturing and supportive space for you to grow and change - at a pace that feels right for you, in order to meet your goals.

I am a person-centred, experiential counsellor. In other words, I believe people can build on their existing strengths and wisdom through new emotional experiences - and by experiencing our emotions in new ways! But before we can take in new experiences and start healing and growing, I know that we all need to feel safe, accepted, and validated. We also often need time and space to increase our own understanding and awareness of our current struggles. My first job as a counsellor is to work hard to build a genuine, trusting relationship with each of my clients, so that you get this time and space. Then, we can explore new experiences that build your ‘toolkit’, address your struggles, and support you to meet your goals.

In addition to my work as a counsellor, I am also a certified crisis worker and former yoga teacher. I am especially passionate about social justice and supporting clients impacted by oppression, inequality, violence, and systemic issues. Counselling alone is not enough to create a fair, compassionate, and inclusive society, but I embrace it as one tool for transformation and healing.

My counselling work so far has focused on supporting 2SLGBTQ+ folks, and those coping with emotional struggles like trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and overwhelm. I offer individual sessions with adults and teens.

Hi, my name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam!

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist who is a member in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP), and the Psychologists Association of Alberta (PAA).

I enjoy working with individuals of all cultural and religious backgrounds along with those within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am particularly interested in working alongside those who struggle with ADHD, depression, and anxiety-related issues as well as athletes seeking to improve their performance. I believe that working with clients to create an environment that helps foster growth, insight, and healing is important to help create meaningful change for clients. I look forward to working with you! My goal with clients is to build a strong alliance with clients to better understand current problems to encourage positive life changes. I use an eclectic approach with a strong emphasis on CBT and mindfulness but I know CBT is not everyones vibe so feedback from clients is always appreciated so that we can explore other therapeutic modalities together!

Coming to therapy is always the hardest step. It takes a lot of courage to talk to someone about things that you might not normally talk about because its uncomfortable and scary. I hope that in meeting and working together, we are able to get to a place where it feels like you’re coming in for a cup of coffee and catch up on life!

Hi, my name is Stephen, and I’m a registered psychologist with a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle.

I think it’s important to recognize how difficult it is to reach out for help, and I’m so grateful that you’ve chosen to reach out to me. Going to therapy is tough, and that’s because being vulnerable is tough. I believe that we all have a tremendous ability to heal, change, and grow. We cruise through the day, not often giving much thought to the encounters we have, but in reality, there’s a brain behind the scenes working furiously to course-correct and catalog every moment of our lives. Sometimes, it’s important to pull the veil aside and take a moment to check and see how the narrative is unfolding. That’s why I believe that through awareness, acceptance, and exploration of ourselves through meaning making, we can all overcome the difficulties in our lives. Taking a moment to give our thoughts and feelings the attention they deserve, is crucial to the healthy functioning of the individual.

In the past my primary area of experience has been in sexual trauma, as counsellor working at the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton. However, today I see a variety of different individuals with unique and diverse needs. I treat PTSD and trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress and burnout, and many other life difficulties people may experience.’ Typically, I operate from evidence-based treatments and believe in the neurobiological understanding of psychology, utilizing empirically validated treatment methods to help my clients grow through their challenges.

I welcome adult clients of all backgrounds, non-binary individuals, and people of all gender identities, gender expression, and sexual orientation.’

Have you wondered why patterns in your relationships seem to repeat? Are you struggling with difficulties in this area of your life and not sure where to start? Or perhaps you are fraught with anxiety, depression, stress, or grief and find it difficult to move forward in a way that feels good to you. By processing and integrating past experiences, family of origin issues, attachment wounds and their associated symptoms can be resolved. These changes can be made while being grounded in the here and now. Your relationships with partners, family, friends, colleagues or bosses can be transformed in a way that may surprise you.

I am skilled in several therapeutic approaches, with my main lens being the psychodynamic (Jungian) perspective. My style supports diving into the deep waters of the unconscious, if you are called to do so. Unconscious material may be uncovered through discussions about metaphors, symbols archetypes, dreams and early life experiences. Our work will explore emotions and feelings, while improving attachment difficulties through the strength of the therapeutic relationship. Powerful transformation is possible when one looks within.

I also offer a trauma focused modality - accelerated resolution therapy (ART), as well as emotionally focused therapy (EFT), solution focused therapy (SFT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The approach used in our sessions will be tailored to your needs, preferences and goals.

Whether you are seeking profound change or a tune up, I can support you with a variety of symptoms and concerns. My main focus will be to create a safe space for you to share and feel heard, while valuing the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship.

Oana is a Registered provisional Psychologist, having graduated from Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program. Her undergraduate studies were also in Psychology and she completed this while still living in Australia. She worked with youth and in nursing research studies while completing her undergraduate degree. Since moving to Canada, she has worked with children and high-risk youth, parents and families in local government and assisted the RCMP in supporting vulnerable people. Her professional experiences have molded her into the therapist she is today, and they have informed her gentle and empathic practice.

More than just my work: I was born in Transylvania and although it is not what the movies make it out to be, it is a beautiful mountainous place in Eastern Europe with similar weather to Alberta. My family moved to Australia when I was 10 years old and then I made the move to Canada by myself, 12 years ago. ☺

Warmly, Oana | she/her (pronounced ‘Wanna’)

I understand that physical and mental health concerns can impact life in various ways. My belief is that we are not meant to walk this journey alone and that, at times, we need someone to walk the journey with us. My approach is to provide a non-judgmental space for people to find the root cause of their presenting concerns, while providing practical tools that can be applied immediately towards the change people would like to see in themselves. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also practice from the perspective of Trauma-Informed Care. I enjoy working with people of all faiths, and cultural backgrounds, including individual adults, couples, older adults, and people who are a part of the LGBTQ2S+ community. During my 17+ years working in healthcare, I have developed a passion for supporting people who have experienced complex trauma and grief, including end of life. I was an occupational therapist and a yoga instructor before a therapist, and can offer a wholistic view. Outside of work, I travel, hike, cycle and spend time with my two dogs.

Hello there!

At thirteen, I was referred to a Psychologist for test anxiety. From that point forward, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology Degree from Concordia University of Edmonton, followed by a Master of Arts in Counselling degree from Yorkville University, I was officially ready to transition into my role as a therapist. Now I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist committed to the well-being of all my clients. Having worked with various clients, and having dealt with each of their unique circumstances, I have found my true passion in guiding them to discover the answers they seek.

As a therapist, I am known to be direct, motivating, eclectic, and fun. My goal is to make this process less nerve-wracking and more relaxed - - like you’re having coffee with a friend, while maintaining an ethically sound practice that propels you towards your therapeutic goals. I believe that people can heal, connect, grow, and live a fulfilling life. I aim to walk alongside you on that journey to help you nurture the best version of yourself. Creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship with my clients is my top priority, as I view it as the foundation for growth. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and empathic space for all of my clients.

I provide counselling to children (5 -12), adolescents (13-18) & adults in various areas including, but not limited to, Anxiety, Depression, Emotion Dysregulation, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Peer Relationships, Self-esteem Challenges, Life Transitions, Bullying, Behavioural Challenges, Stress, Divorce/Separation , Infidelity, Blended Families, and Trauma. My early experience working in Mental health in various capacities was predominantly in the realm of forensic psychology, addiction and trauma having started my early work experience at Stan Daniels Healing Centre, then transitioning to work at Boyle Street Community Services, and landing at McCullough Centre - an alberta government operated transitional housing program for males facing homelessness and addiction. Initially registering as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) I worked in a clinical setting which allowed me to gain experience working with a plethora of client challenges and goals in a more generalized capacity. I registered as a Registered Provisional Psychologist in February of 2022 and since my practice has shifted to focus predominantly on Children, Youth, and Adults.

Recently I have taken training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy facilitated by Lane Pederson, as well as training in Animal Assisted Therapy, and Working with Parts from an Indigenous Lens facilitated by Shelley PomPana Spear Chief. I have also taken various trainings from the Institute of Child Psychology: Childhood Anxiety - Helping Children Heal, Compassionate Discipline, Highly Sensitive Children, Helping Children through Separation and Divorce, The Impact of Technology, The Making of a Resilient Child, Childhood trauma - Finding a way through, Demystifying Childhood Gender and Sexuality, Trauma Informed Yoga and Breathwork for Kids, Childhood ADHD, Empowering Learners, and Classroom Mental Health.

My approach to counselling is client-centred at the core. I integrate a variety of evidence-based interventions such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment Theory, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Play in Therapy and Art in Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate Animal Assisted Therapy into my practice with my co-therapist, Minnie. I am committed to expanding my therapeutic knowledge and have a strong interest in trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches.

Outside of the counselling room, you will find me immersed in play with my 5-year-old, spending time with friends outdoors, at a spin class, sweating it out at hot yoga, ripping through fashion blogs, or nestled up on the couch near a fire watching some form of reality TV.
